Our Food Ministry

We take seriously Matthew 14 where Jesus said to feed the people, and our Food Ministry is a central part of who we are.  Our food ministry is made possible from many sources: Donations and tithes from the members of the church; the Montgomery County Food Bank; Keep Us Fed; various financial gifts from strangers.
 

The Food Ministry consists of the Soup Kitchen, the Food Pantry, and preparing food for the Under His Bridge Ministry.

Soup Kitchen. This ministry prepared 300 take out lunches in July 2025. They take these lunches to the Salvation Army every Tuesday to be given out. They use the prepared foods, vegetables, desserts, and fruits that the church receives from Keep Us Fed, in addition to Montgomery County Food Bank groceries..

Food Pantry. Served 629 families for a total of 2080 people in July 2025. It is with the volunteer help of members and non-members of FCC that enables us to feed so many families. As many as 30 individuals volunteer for this service, and many of them are here four days a week receiving, storing, preparing food, and distributing the groceries and miscellaneous items.

Under His Bridge Ministry. We prepared 120 meals in July 2025. This is a ministry that feeds men and women who live under an underpass in Houston. It is near a police station and the policemen decided it would be best if the food was served in the police station instead of under the bridge for safety reasons.

Family Promise. Twice a year, for 5 nights a week, an FCC team takes Family Dinner for families who are currently staying at Family Promise. In addition, FCC gives a monthly financial gift for this ministry.

            Men’s basketball and volley ball in the gym (Family Center on Monday nights)

Open Arms United Church of Christ

            Friday Yoga class

Woodlands Christian Church

            Uses our large kitchen to prepare meals as a ministry of their church on the 4th Saturday
            of the month. Led by Kim Johnson.

Community Related

Compass Homeschool. This is a Christian based co-op homeschool with over 100 students that meets on Mondays during the school year. They have met here for nine years. They also have special evening events during the school year.

Christian Youth Theater. They hold their summer camp here for a week in August. Sometimes they also request the facilities to use for rehearsals.

Players Theater Group. They use our facility for rehearsals on an as-needed basis.
